Here some recent Nova Uniao team news happening over the last month:
Abu Dhabi World Cup

Issa Able, who is only 19 years old, was born in Iran, but he has been living in the United States since the age of 11. With not even 2 years of training, Issa already has an impressive resume. Since July 2009, Issa has won 11 gold, 1 Silver and 1 Bronze Medal, including 3 IBJJF titles and 4 AZSBJJF Titles, showing that he has a bright future in front of him.
2010 Pan Results (courtesy GD Jiu-Jitsu):
The 2010 Pan Jiu-Jitsu Championship took place in Irvine, CA from April 8th to the 11th. The largest tournament in IBJJF history gathered over 2800 competitors from all over the world. Team GD Jiu-Jitsu/Nova Uniao was represented by 30 competitors who were able to win 20 medals! The standouts of the Team Were: Christian Broadnax, who won both his weight and the Open Class in the Blue/Juvenile division, Kristina Barlaan, who won the feather weight division and took third in the Open Class, accumulating a total of 9 matches in one day, and Phil Brown, who had the most matches (total of 6) to win his division in the Blue/Master/Middle. Also, Team Nova Uniao took 1st place in the Juvenile division with the three gold medals won by the Broadnax Brothers. More pictures will be available soon. Here are our Team’s full results:1st Place
