Building World Champions Since 1995
With its inception in 1995, it only took a couple years for Nova União to build a team of World champions, claiming the the Team Division title at the 1997 World Championship. Today, Nova União seeks to return to the World’s podium and re-establish its legacy.
From the Gi we came; To the Gi we shall remain.
Founded by Andre Pederneiras and Wendell Alexander in 1995, Nova União is a Jiu-Jitsu team which had transformed over the years into a MMA powerhouse. The Gi remains to be the foundation of Nova União and shall never be discarded or forgotten. Translated from the original 2008 Nova União Brazil competition team shirt, this quote celebrates the team’s return and loyalty to its roots.
From Children to Champions
The Champions of Nova União start from the ground up. From the humble beginnings of childhood, the young warriors of Nova União learn the values of hard work, discipline, honor, and respect. Whether they want to grow up to be a World Class athlete or a strong and successful adult, Nova União strives to help children develop into Champions on and off the mats.
The World’s Leading Team in MMA
Headed by Nova União co-founder, Andre Pederneiras, Nova União MMA has been displaying dominant performances on the World’s biggest stages in MMA. With 2 Champions in the UFC (Jose Aldo, Featherweight; Renan Barão, Interim Bantamweight), 1 Bellator Champion (Eduardo Dantas, Bantamweight), and a strong line-up of fighters represented in MMA productions around the World, Nova União looks to continue to lead in MMA for years to come.
